Prior to joining Sargent Law, Michael Spears was staff counsel at United Automobile Insurance Company and GEICO, where he defended both organizations as well as their policyholders in civil litigation matters. In his more than 10 years of practice, Michael has gained extensive experience inside the courtroom, having tried more than 70 jury trials across Texas, including Harris, Tarrant, Denton, Collin, McLennan, Dallas, Bexar, and Travis counties. This experience in front of different judges and in venues both big and small has given Michael special insight into how each case he takes on should be approached. He’s seen it all, and there’s no case he’s afraid to take on.
Michael earned his law degree from the Southern University Law Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Before that, he attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he earned his master’s in communication and public speaking. While there, he heard a quote from William Butler Yeats that has informed his trial work ever since: “Think like a wise man but communicate in the language of the people.” Over the years, that has become one of Michael’s greatest strengths. Hhis ability to break down complex topics into themes that are easily understood allows him to connect with juries and gives his clients the best chance of success.
